dom
funfair | 6 months a year
Three times a year, Northern Germany's largest funfair sets up in Hamburg. For an entire month, the Heiligengeistfeld blinks brightly, set to the sounds of lively music and the aromas of delicious delights. Between cotton candy and roasted almonds, teens race for the fun in bumper cars, children get lost in the hall of mirrors and adults stumble out of the haunted house with faces so white, you’d think they had seen a ghost. Despite its years-long tradition in the city, the Hamburg Dom gets hearts beating faster every time. This amazing funfair attracts around nine millin visitors every year – with all sorts of temptations. In addition to rollercoasters and culinary titbits, the Hamburg Dome also always has a bit more up its sleeve. At the Witch’s Village during the Winter Dom, for example, you’ll experience mystical music against the backdrop of a flaring fire – giving somewhere between a spooky and campfire feeling. Every Wednesday is Family Day, offering reduced prices on virtually everything. Plus, numerous surprises await the little ones – from face painting and clowns to fire-eaters and balloon artists. On Fridays, a huge fireworks display illuminates the Dom at 10.30 pm, providing a beautiful end to a perfect afternoon. If you happen to be spening a Friday evening in one of our holiday apartments, you may just be able to experience the sensational fireworks from the balcony. http://www.hamburg.de/dom Directions Located at the Heiligengeistfeld, the Hamburg Dom is best reachable via public transport.
